From the very first concept of a sculpture I think, feel and live it’s potential, I chew it over, I do much research and I look. Sculpture for me is seeing and it is true to say that I see potential subject matter almost everywhere. I don’t look for it. It finds me. I don’t dictate how a portrait must be, the subject shows me.
I want my work to be accessible to all, not complicated, not obtuse but a recognition by viewers as my open offering of life as I see it, carefully observed
Success for me is for someone to smile and say ‘Hey, that’s just how it is!’ to have caught my inspiration and realize that in my work I strive to faithfully hold this together.
